2nd Place Team - BNC All-Conference Runners - Program Record

Park West, Oregon – The Rockford Christian (2A #8) boys lost to Dixon (2A #3) 27-55 at the Big Northern Conference Championships on Saturday, October 13. Collin Grady of Dixon won the individual crown in a time of 16:35 out of the 68-man field.


The Royal Lions tied a program record with an astonishing 7 all-conference performances: Brent Brunner (Sr.) lead the squad finishing 6th in a time of 17:11; Stephen Thomas (So.) was 9th in 17:25; D’ Artagnon Beaver (So.) was 10th in 17:35: Nicolas Capriola (Sr.) was 12th in 17:51; Carter Fryer (Jr.) was 18th in 18:10; Cal Granite (Sr.) was 19th in 18:16; JT Emenecker (Jr.) was 20th in 18:17. This 2018 group ties the previous all-conference record mark set in 2016. Dixon earned the second most all-conference runners with six.


The Royal Lions had their best 5-man split of the season in 55 seconds and also notched the fastest 7-man split of 61 seconds.

In the open race, Josh Honkamp (Sr.) was the top RC finisher in 3rd place – his top finish ever in a cross country race.  Honkamp’s time was 18:49. Freshmen Ben Capriola and Ethan Walsh closed out their stellar seasons finishing 5th and 6th in 19:00 and 19:25, respectively. Jonathan Kempe (So.) finished 8th and ran a personal best of 19:36 on the notoriously slow course at Park West. Tony Chen (Fr.) also made the top ten in 20:11. Oliver Buckner (So.) came within 10 seconds of his lifetime best running 21:25 and taking ribbon honors in 14th place.


For those familiar with Park West, the course has been modified. The gully just before the 2 mile marker is now circumnavigated with the addition of four ninety-degree turns.
