2019 Rocket Run Team Champions

Centennial Park, Rock Falls -- Rockford Christian opened their 2019 cross country campaign on Tuesday, August 27 with a victory. The Royal Lions (ranked 1A #14 by ILXCTF) took the team title against the 15 team field scoring 67 points. Dawson Smith (Sr.) of Rock Falls dominated the individual race in 15:35 - hydroplaning over the partially flooded 3.0 mile course. 

For the first time in nearly four years an athlete other than Riley Wells (2019) led the Royal Lion pack to the finish line. D' Artagnon Beaver (Jr.) took home medal honors in 7th placed with a time of 17:47. But, it was the 39 second 2-3-4-5 man split that solidified the team's success. Stephen Thomas (Jr.), Ethan Walsh (So.), Ben Capriola (So.) and co-captain JT Emenecker (Sr.) finished 13-16-17-19 out of the 100+ man field. The 6/7 pushers of co-captain Carter Fryer (Sr.) and Adison Elliott (So.) provided the RCXC flex, finishing in front of teams' number four runners.

In the open race, Aidan Sosnowski (Fr.) started his high school career in stellar style finishing in 5th place out of 48 runners. He broke up a perfect 15 point team score attempt by Amboy. Brock Loftus (So.) lead a 1-2-3-4 finish for the Clippers. Amboy had no entries in the varsity race.
