13th Place at the 2019 First to the Finish Invitational
Detweiller Park, Peoria -- Rockford Christian (1A #22 ILXCTF) finished 13th out of 74 schools at the First to the Finish 1A Invitational on Saturday, September 14. The Royal Lions set 12 personal records on the day.
D' Artagnon Beaver (Jr.) was the top RCXC finishers taking home medal honors with a time of 16:53. He finished 48th place out of over 500 athletes. Pack running has defined the 2019 squad thus far. Co-captain Carter Fryer (Sr.) took his turn leading the lion chase pack in 17:34 on the Detweiller course. The pack order on the weekend was as follows: Benjamin Capriola (So.) who ran 17:37, a personal best; co-captain Josiah Emenecker (Sr.) ran 17:46; Stephen Thomas (Jr.) went 17:54; and Ethan Walsh (So.) dropped a 40 second PR of 17:57. The 2-6 man split at FTTF was just 23 seconds. Adison Elliott (So.) was the final varisty placer for the team, he ran 18:37 - 70 second personal best.
The entire crew showed remarkable improvement over last weekend's brutal course conditions at Park West. The average drop for an RCXC runner was 69 seconds. Tyler Emenecker (Fr.) had the biggest improvement out of the squad wit ha 144 second dip. Additional personal records were set by the following runners: Tony Chen (So.) 18:51, Aidan Sosnowski (Fr.) 19:32, Rorke White (So.) 19:50, Oliver Buckner (Jr.) 19:59, Joseph Chan (So.) 21:23, Nathaniel Chan (Sr.) 21:34, Reece Weeseln (Fr.) 22:13, and Blake Wartell (Jr.) 22:52.
All in all, it was a fantastic weekend of team building and racing for the "You Know" program.
