PeoriaRockford Christian (1A #19 ILXCTF) competed at historic Detweiller Park on Saturday, October 5 in the 65th Peoria Invitational. The Royal Lions were the top 1A squad in the 43 team field that included sixteen 2A ranked teams. The boys placed 22nd and scored 852 points beating Freeburg (#13 1A ILXCTF), the top ranked 1A team in the field, by 13 points. Big Northern Conference opponent Dixon (2A #5 ILXCTF) won the team title with just 68 points. Sam Lange from Morton (2A) was the individual champion in 14:48 on the 3 mile course. 


D’ Artagnon Beaver (Jr.) was the top RC finisher in 48th place out of 294 runners. His time of 16:18 was a personal best. The new mark ranks him as the nineteenth fastest runner in program history. Stephen Thomas (Jr.) improved his season best by a remarkable 72 seconds running 16:42. All three Rockford Christian sophomores ran lifetime PRs: Benjamin Capriola ran 17:04, Ethan Walsh ran 17:21, and Adison Elliott ran 17:34. All-in-all, the Royal Lion top 5 pack had 3:57 minutes of improvement over their efforts at Detweiller from just three weeks ago at the First to the Finish Invitational.


Co-captains Carter Fryer (Sr.) and Josiah Emenecker (Sr.) closed out the top seven in 17:35 and 18:24, respectively.

The Rockford Christian jayvee squad will compete next at the Winnebago Roger Fredrickson Invitational on Tuesday, October 8 at Fuller Forest Preserve. Additional meet information is available on RC You Know social media.
