2019 Cross Country Sectional Meet Qualifiers
Fuller Forest Preserve, Winnebago – For the 19th time in the 20 years of program history, Rockford Christian boys cross country advanced to the Sectional meet. The Royal Lions placed 2nd at the Winnebago 1A Regional Meet on Saturday, October 26. The boys (ranked 1A #22 ILXCTF) fell to Harvest Christian Academy (1A #4) by a score of 23 to 45. Tristan Olpin of Keith Country Day was top individual, out of 98 runners, in a time of 14:31 on the 2.85 mile course at Fuller.
D’Artganon Beaver (Jr.), fresh off a BNC All-Conference top 5 finish, earned his first All-Regional medal finishing 4th in 15:07. Beaver is the twenty-fourth Rockford Christian runner -- since program inception in 2000 -- to merit the distinction. Stephen Thomas (Jr.) ran his best race of the season running 15:32 - which when converted ties his lifetime 3 mile personal record. The RC sophomore trio of Ethan Walsh, Benjamin Capriola, and Adison Elliott closed the Royal Lion scoring pack in 12th, 15th, and 17th place. They ran 15:53, 16:08, and 16:14, respectively. Co-captain Carter Fryer (Sr.) finished within a single stride of the pack running 16:16. Co-captain Josiah Emenecker (Sr.) recorded a personal best on the 2.85 Fuller loops in 16:25. A mark that converted to 3 miles also rates as a career best.
